The artist: Rae Morris is a worldwide known Australian makeup artist. She has worked with a lot of famous photographers and has done covers for a lot of beauty and fashion magazines. Her work has appeared in print, on television and in film and she is the australian make-up director for l'Oréal Paris. An artist and true professional!
The book: I first heard of it a couple of years ago from gossmakeupartist and I wasn't disappointed.
If you are into makeup then this is your cup of tea. For makeup novices I would suggest getting the Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual first as it gives basic application techniques, where as this book skips some of the basics.

Each of the looks she creates has a simple written guide with step by step photos.
It contains stunning pictures, is insightful and easy to understand.
True, some of the looks aren't always office friendly or for daily use, but they are inspiring and creative.
Also bear in mind that there are a lot of techniques out there and her way is just one of them. But you won't regret giving some of her techniques a try!
After reading it many times, it now functions as a perfect coffee table book!

Ik leerde dit boek kennen dankzij gossmakeupartist en werd niet teleurgesteld toen ik het enkele jaren geleden kocht.
Als je al het één en ander van make-up afweet, dan zal dit boek een welkome aanvulling zijn. Aan make-up beginners raad ik eerder het Bobbi Brown make-up Manual aan. Dat boek leert je de basics zoals het correct aanbrengen van foundation en concealer. Rae Morris gaat verder dan dat.
Gebruikt in make-up scholen behandelt dit gedetailleerde boek verschillende topics: het voorbereiden van de huid, het vormgeven van wenkbrauwen, contouren en highlighten, ten minutes makeovers, looks voor 40 plussers,...
Bij elk van de looks geeft ze een eenvoudige handleiding met stap voor stap foto's.
Let wel, veel van de make-up looks zijn eerder creatief en inspirerend bedoeld dan voor dagelijks gebruik.
Hou ook in je achterhoofd dat er een heleboel technieken zijn en haar manier is er slechts één van. Maar sommige van haar technieken en tips zijn zeker het proberen waard!
Het bevat prachtige afbeeldingen en na het boek vele malen gelezen te hebben, ligt het nu mooi te wezen op mijn koffietafel.
